Raider Senior 2010 Season…. I am the new Head Coach for the Senior Division and my name is Glen Clark. I have been a coach with the Raiders for over 7 years at the Midget, Junior and Senior levels and have coached at the High School level as well. Before I discuss plans for the 2010 season let’s go ahead and answer a question that I have been hearing for weeks now. The question is, “Are we going to have a Senior Team?” Let me answer that question early, YES! As a matter of fact, if every player who has asked that question or their parent that has asked that question plays then we are looking at about 25 players, not counting the unknowns. So, yes we will have a team. The strength of that team is dependent upon the players and their parents, who are willing to make a commitment to learn football, give a 110% and prepare for the High School ranks. My philosophy is very simple. My job is to take every player, develop their strengths, improve on their weaknesses and make them ready to play at the high school level. The transition from “Youth or Middle School” football is not an easy one. I have had 3 boys of my own who played for Raiders who went on to play for the high schools so I do have experience in this area. For many years now the elite players in the high school ranks have come from the NKYFL, and Raiders have had their share, Miles Simpson, Zack Sowder, and Tony Terlau to name a few that you may recognize from the Kenton County High Schools. What does being a Raider Senior offer?
Over the past several years the Senior Raider team has struggled. Some players wanted to go play for a school because of the schools name, or because their friends played for another team, or because they were made promises of playing time or positions. I have one promise to make! Every player will be evaluated and placed in the position best suited for their skill set and to benefit the team. They will earn the right to walk onto the field every week, to play their heart out, and win or lose, know that they are a better player today than they were yesterday. So, if you think you have what it takes to be a Raider Senior, I will see you at sign ups. If you would like to talk with me about anything please don’t hesitate to call, 859-802-3887.
